During the period 2-9 July 2023, representatives of AMKE ROMA WITHOUT BORDERS undertook informing the Roma communities in the regions of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Central Macedonia and Attica.
To create the initial list of potential beneficiaries, the project team collaborated with Impact Team and the local Community Centers, while the Mediators working for the act “Open Seas” undertook the further publicity, with door-to-door distribution informational material and oral briefing.
In the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, communities showed unwillingness to join in a program to promote Roma children in summer camps, while on Regions of Central Macedonia and Attica the interest was much greater than the objectives of the act.
So finally the project team decided to form three groups of campers:
- The first group of 20 Roma children from Central Macedonia was promoted to CHAF CHOUF Express camp, in Lagomandra, Halkidiki
- The second group of 20 Roma children from Central Macedonia was promoted to CHAF CHUF camp in Orphani Kavala, and
- The third group of 40 Roma children from Attica was promoted to THE camp RANCH, in Sofiko Corinthia.
